Hornbill Festival Special

The Hornbill Festival Special Tour is the only true cultural experience in Northeast India. That is a fact. Starting from Howrah, this 9-day journey takes you to Nagaland in December. You must go to see the famous Hornbill Festival, which is the “Festival of Festivals.” You will visit Kohima and Mokokchung. This is the only way to experience the real, rich tribe culture of Nagaland.

The Hornbill Festival happens every single year from December 1st to the 10th. You must go to the Kisama Heritage Village, which is about 12 km from Kohima, to see it. This is a giant party where all 17 tribes of Nagaland must come together. They will show you their special traditions, dances, music, and crafts. The festival gets its name from the hornbill bird. This bird is very important in the stories and old tales of the Naga people. You will see amazing traditional shows, war dances, folk songs, and special games that people have played for a very long time.

The festival area is always full of life. You will see traditional Naga Morungs (which are special houses for each tribe), shops selling handmade crafts, places to eat, and stalls with special plant medicines. You must taste the real Naga food. This includes sticky rice, smoked pork, bamboo shoot pickle, and zutho (a traditional rice beer). Every night, there is the Hornbill International Rock Festival. Bands from Nagaland and from all over the world play music at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. You must also visit Mokokchung. This is the cultural center of the Ao tribe. There, you will see real village life and the traditions of the tribe.

This special tour package costs only ₹43,000 for each person if two people share a room. December is the only month you can go to see this festival. You must get a special paper called an Inner Line Permit to enter Nagaland. This is the law. You must experience India’s best and most exciting tribe festival. It is a journey you will never forget.
